10,200 Eight-Minute Meetings Symbolize Power And Value Of National Association Of Chain Drug Stores Marketplace, USA

With more than 10,200 "Meet the Market" face-to-face pre-arranged appointments under the belt, including 1,500 of these appointments held for the first time on the exhibit floor, the 2007 NACDS Marketplace Conference is off to a sizzling start. The new and sparkling, state-of-the-art Boston Convention & Exhibition Center is an appropriate setting for one of the best-attended, highly energetic Marketplace Conferences ever. Every turn and twist along the half-mile exhibit floor displays a flurry of activity between retail representatives; sales, marketing, and merchandising executives; category managers; buyers; the broker community; and their counterparts at the exhibiting companies.

Attendees of what can be described as the industry's one-stop shop overwhelmingly acknowledge the invaluable business interactions and exciting opportunities to discuss new merchandising trends, products, and packaging. As large as this year's conference is - over 3,700 total attendees, including 275 retail companies with a record-setting 908 retail executives and 524 exhibiting companies - Marketplace manages to keep a community feel.

Yesterday's "Town Hall" meeting, in its second year, provided a popular venue for interactive dialogue with NACDS Chairman David Bernauer, Walgreen Co. Vice President of Purchasing David Van Howe, Colgate-Palmolive Co. Director of Trade Development Peter Thompson, and Anderson. The well-attended meeting offered key tips for what retailers are looking for from new suppliers and answered a variety of supplier questions.

In another demonstration of NACDS' positive momentum, the Association is experiencing strong turnout at programs designed to inform non-member company representatives about opportunities to gain further value through broader involvement in NACDS.

With two more days of a bustling exhibit hall where critical business decisions are sure to be made, and with all of the awards still left to be presented - the In Style Your Look Most Wanted Awards followed by Woman's Day Best in Beauty & Health Awards - the Marketplace Conference remains the talk of the town and the industry.
