BA Present MDC With 2,000 Pounds Cheque Thanks To Employee, UK

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign were presented with a £2,000 cheque from airline giant British Airways.

Jay Solanki, who has recently fundraised for MDC with a Bollywood song supporting the England team during the 2006 World Cup, works as a Terminal 5 project manager for British Airways.

Jay was recognised for his outstanding charitable endeavors over the past 10 years by British Airways Community Relations team and received a Community Volunteering Award for £2,000, which he duly donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign as a keen supporter of the charity's valuable work.

He was invited to a special ceremony by BA where television presenter, Ben Shephard presented him with the cheque.

Jay's teenage daughter, Anjali who has a form of muscular dystrophy, was the inspiration behind the Bollywood World Cup song which raised £600 in 2006.

Being a long time supporter of MDC, Jay said: "I am delighted to have been able to make a significant contribution to the work of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign."

The head of the corporate fundraising team, Malcolm Dent says: "We are very happy with the contribution and would like to thank BA and Jay for their generosity."

The money is going to support Professor Francesco Muntoni's research to identify the genes responsible for Congenital muscular dystrophy with a view to finding a cure.
