Former Governor, RAND Executive Call for Sweeping Health Care Reform, USA
- Health policy discussions may be a sleep aid to some. But not to listeners of one online radio show that will feature controversial interviews this Friday with two prominent national leaders on the often heated topic of how to solve the health care crisis.
CodeBlueNow! Radio, one of the first-ever, Internet-only "radio" shows by a national nonprofit organization, will webcast its December edition on Friday, December 17 at 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern. The program, a service of the national health care reform group CodeBlueNow! (http://www.codebluenow.org), will highlight two leading figures in the country's increasingly contentious debate on how to fix the health care system:
-- Former Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, MD, on why we need a new health care revolution; why the current system pits children against seniors and what concerned citizens can do to get involved.
-- Robert Brook, MD, DSci. Vice President of RAND Corp. and Director of RAND Health, on why we need to focus on the production side of health care not the finance side, and why we should have one day when Congress and their families get the same health care as all uninsured Americans.
"We intend to change the health care system so it works for the American public," notes CodeBlueNow! founder and CEO Kathleen O'Connor. Formed in 2003, CodeBlueNow! is tapping a groundswell of discontent about health care in America and has grown to thousands of supporters in 44 states. The organization began by hosting a nationwide competition for proposals to fix the health care system. More than 100 proposals were received. From the winning entries, CodeBlueNow! produced a summary and set of core values on which the health system should be based.
CodeBlueNow! Radio represents the latest in a series of initiatives by CodeBlueNow! to raise awareness of the health care crisis and call for non-partisan collaboration to fix it.
