Minister Mary Harney Officially Opens The All Ireland Community Nursing Joint Conference
The theme for the Conference is "Shaping the Future" which will run over two days providing a forum for all nurses and health visitors working in community settings in Ireland to come together to share good practice and debate current issues relating to community nursing.
In opening the conference, Minister Harney welcomed this first all Ireland Community Nursing conference as an excellent example of cross border collaboration stating, "cross border co-operation in this area will lead to improved services for patients". The Minister also acknowledged the significant contribution of public health nurses, practice nurses, and community nurses and midwives to the health service throughout the island of Ireland.
The Minister paid tribute to everyone involved in the organisation of this conference and commended the organisers in providing such a comprehensive programme to support collaborative working within public health nursing.
