New RCGP book celebrates past presidents, UK
The fully illustrated, colour, 24-page Presidents Portraits by Dr Helen Sapper of the RCGP Heritage Committee, contains background information about the presidents' portraits, the presidents themselves and the artists who painted them.
The portraits show pictorially how the College evolved as an institution, cataloguing in particular the acquisition of its insignia. The symbols and mementoes of achievements included in the portraits were carefully chosen by the presidents to reflect their period in office.
Dr Sapper said: "This is an essential publication for those interested in the history of the College, the personalities that have shaped it and the evolving nature of portraiture over the past fifty years."
