Olympus, Shimadzu Co develop Ultra High Powered 3D Measuring Microscope

Tokyo (JCNN) - Leading Japanese precision equipment manufacturer Olympus (TSE: 7733) announced on August 30 that it has developed ultra-high powered 3D-measuring microscope "Nanosearch Microscope LEXT (OLS3500) in collaboration with Shimadzu Corporation (TSE: 7701).

Integrating Olympus' laser scanning microscope and Shimadzu's scanning probe microscope, the latest product enables super-wide range observation and measurement, from millimeters to nanometers. Both companies will market the product.

The microscope will be distributed through two sales channels: Nanosearch microscope LEXT (OLS3500) by Olympus and Nanosearch microscope SFT-3500 by Shimadzu.

In addition, Shimadzu will unveil the SFT-3500 microscope at JAIMA SHOW 2004, an analysis equipment exhibition to be held in the Makuhari Messe from September 1 to 3.
