Intellicheck(reg) Technology Updates
In addition to making enhancements to the process controls already integrated within Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics' proprietary Intellicheck(reg) technology, the VITROS(reg) ECiQ Immunodiagnostic System adds three new key verification procedures:
Reagent Aspiration Verification supplements the existing indirect measurement with a direct technique and also helps ensure proper reagent volume. Sample + Reagent Verification certifies that proper sample and assay reagent volume is contained within the well. Well Wash Dispense Verification provides confirmation of the proper critical wash process for reporting quality results by verifying aspiration and dispense of Universal Wash Reagent in the well.
These multiple verification levels, combined with operator notification, greatly reduce the potential for critical medical errors. In addition, the unique IntelliReport feature delivers traceability of reported patient results by reporting the key Intellicheck(reg) Technology verifications performed for each assay processed. There is no reduction in throughput as a result of the process control enhancements and all are integrated automatically during system processing to maintain continuous walk-away operation and operational efficiency.
e-Connectivity(reg) Interactive System Management
The VITROS(reg) ECiQ Immunodiagnostic System incorporates e-Connectivity(reg) Interactive System Management, which will also be included in the future VITROS(reg) 5,1 FS Chemistry System. This provides highly secure, real-time access between the VITROS(reg) ECiQ System and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., customer support teams. In addition to remote diagnostic and remote control functionality, e-Connectivity(reg) permits automatic two-way data exchange allowing operators to selectively and securely install software updates.
Other Enhancements
The VITROS(reg) ECiQ System features a flat panel, touch sensitive monitor supported with a new platform and support arm, all with adjustable positions for increased operator ergonomics and ease of use. Numerous software feature updates were made to provide greater levels of productivity, reliability, and overall performance.
Menu Expansion
The VITROS(reg) ECiQ System design further allows for flexible assay protocols that optimize assay performance, enabling rapid menu expansion. Recent assay launches include myoglobin, anti-HAV Total (outside the US), anti-HBc, and anti-HBc IgM for VITROS(reg) ECi and ECiQ Systems. Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., is also developing new assays in the areas of infectious disease and cardiology. Assays available outside the U.S. are anti-HIV 1/2, anti-HAV IgM, anti-HBe, and HBeAg*. These assays are under development for use in the United States.
