Prince Charles launches new website on health and social care
King's Fund President HRH the Prince of Wales launched the new website at an event to showcase the organisation's latest work programmes.
Speaking at the launch, King's Fund chief executive Niall Dickson said: "Our new website will enable users to discover more about the exciting and diverse range of projects we are undertaking and give them greater access to our resources.
"We believe this is more than just a technical tool - it will enable us to change the way we work. We hope this virtual King's Fund will become as important as the physical building in which we are based and transform the way in which we communicate, network and engage with the people who use our services."
Other features of the new website, available at http://www.kingsfund.org.uk - include:
• a wide range of online services, including publication sales, conference venue booking, leadership development enquiries and information and library services.
• An extensive health topics section, pulling together all of the King's Fund's research, analysis, funding projects and comment by issue
• A new online news centre containing briefings, news releases and feature articles by topic.
• An updates service, available at http://www.kingsfund.org.uk/updates, that provides regular emails about new King's Fund publications, events and health policy developments.
Before launching the new website at the King's Fund, HRH The Prince of Wales visited the charity Connect to see how it has used funding from the King's Fund to support people with aphasia, a communication disability most commonly resulting from stroke. People with aphasia often find it difficult to understand information provided in the usual way by health and other services, leaving them outside discussions and decisions and feeling isolated. The King's Fund is helping Connect work with people with aphasia and a range of service providers to develop a training toolkit that will help the providers make their services accessible to people with aphasia.
