Public Health Leaders to Speak at Idaho Public Health Association Meeting
"This conference is a wonderful opportunity to develop a partnership between the Idaho Public Health Association and the individuals who direct public health activities at the local level in Idaho," said Lee Hannah, DVM, MS, MPH, president of IPHA.
Speakers will include American Public Health Association (APHA) President Virginia Caine, MD; Patrick O'Carroll, MD, regional health administrator for the Department of Health and Human Services; and Leonard Marcus, PhD, director of the Health Care Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Program at the Harvard School of Public Health.
O'Carroll is a medical epidemiologist with the Public Health Practice Program Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has served as director of the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice at the University of Washington. Marcus has played a leading national and international role in terrorism preparedness and emergency response by developing a conceptual and practical basis for coordinating people.
"Public health today faces many challenges, from the obesity epidemic to public health preparedness to disparities in health," said Caine. "This conference is a terrific and timely opportunity for public health professionals across Idaho to shape the future of public health and make progress on today's most vital issues."
