"Generics: Prescription For Affordable Medicine" Is Theme Of GPhA's 2007 Annual Meeting, Thurs.-Sat., March 1-3
"Our nation is in need of positive solutions to help bring quality, affordable health care to American families. Lawmakers, businesses and working Americans are searching for ways to stretch their healthcare dollars. Increasingly, they are recognizing that generics are the prescription for affordable medicine," said GPhA President and CEO Kathleen Jaeger. "Our meeting will explore the many issues facing our industry, from the great potential of biogenerics to the challenges of authorized generics and citizen petitions."
Each year, the Annual Meeting brings together CEOs and other top officials from the generic pharmaceutical industry, including manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, chain drug stores, and health care providers. During this year's three-day meeting, participants will hear about the latest industry, legislative and regulatory trends and developments.

The 2007 Annual Meeting will be held at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The meeting kicks off on Thursday, March 1 with an evening welcome reception. The plenary sessions and Business Exposition, featuring a diverse array of exhibitors, will be held on March 2 and 3, beginning with breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

GPhA represents the manufacturers and distributors of finished generic pharmaceuticals, manufacturers and distributors of bulk active pharmaceutical chemicals, and suppliers of other goods and services to the generic drug industry. Generics represent 56% of the total prescriptions dispensed in the United States, but less than 13.1% of all dollars spent on prescription drugs.
