"Sicko" Is Out, Michael Moore's Film On America's Privatized Health System
According to Moore's web site, one does not often find the word 'comedy' linked with 'health care' - he claims they go together hand in glove in the movie 'Sicko'.
The film starts off with profiles of some ordinary Americans whose lives have been disrupted by health care catastrophes. The film shows that it is not only the 47 million uninsured citizens who suffer, but also millions of others who struggle to keep up with their premiums or flounder under a flood of bureaucratic red tape.
The film tries to explain how things got into such a state in the American health care system. It also shows how people in Great Britain, France and Canada receive universal free medical benefits. We see 9/11 heroes who are ill but cannot get medical attention in the USA.
