2006 British Dental Conference And Exhibition - Making It Work Together

The British Dental Association's (BDA) 2006 British Dental Conference and Exhibition, titled Making it work together, takes place from 18-20 May at Birmingham's International Conference Centre. The event will feature 116 expert presenters and 117 exhibitors.

Over 3,000 delegates are expected to attend the event which takes place at a critical time for the future of dentistry, with fundamental changes underway in NHS dentistry and significant developments within private care. Headline speakers tackling the political issues include BDA Executive Board Chair Susie Sanderson and Health Minister Rosie Winterton. Keynote speaker Michael Portillo will address the broader theme of dynamic leadership.

This year's clinical programme includes top speakers from the UK and overseas including: Professor Philip Lumley of Birmingham University's School of Dentistry discussing enodontic re-treatment; Canadian clinician and author William Liebenberg considering limitations and innovations in tooth-coloured restorations in clinical practice; dental educator and researcher Hien Ngo from Australia addressing the issue of minimally invasive techniques for caries control; and Walter DeVoto, a private practitioner based in Northern Italy, talking about invisible restorations for anterior teeth.

The event will also provide the first airing of work being carried out by the BDA and Nuffield Trust looking at the future of dentistry. Other sessions will cover the dental needs of an ageing population, innovations in conscious sedation, and regenerative dentistry.
