21st European Conference On Biomaterials 2007 In Brighton, UK
ESB 2007 takes place at The Dome, Brighton, from 9th - 13th September and will bring together a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary scientific community with experts from 37 different countries from across the globe presenting their research.
Biomaterials are synthetic materials widely used in clinical treatments to replace part of a living system or to function with living tissue. The 21st European Conference on Biomaterials will challenge the role of traditional biomaterials in clinical practice and review the latest pioneering developments in material design, evaluation and manufacture for tissue reconstruction and regeneration.
Among the 500 scientific presentations and keynote lectures making up the conference will be two award winners. Dr Pierre Layrolle, winner of the Jean Leray Award will present his lecture entitled biomimetic materials for bone repair while Professor Peter Revell, who will be awarded the 2007 George Winter Award, will discuss the application of biomaterials in a presentation entitled 'loose joints'.
A key feature of the conference is a young scientists forum: Professor Andrew Lloyd said: "The meeting will seek to inspire the next generation of biomaterial scientists. This is becoming increasingly important as the healthcare application of biomaterials is growing all the time."
