Characterization Of Urinary Incontinence In Patients With Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)
ORLANDO, FL (UroToday.com) - An interesting overview of urinary incontinence associated with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a chronic condition that affects geriatric patients, was presented by Dr. Klausner, et al., from Richmond, VA.
Although the classic triad of cognitive impairment, bait disturbances, and urinary incontinence is established, this study set out specifically to characterize the type, severity, and quality of life impact of urinary incontinence in patients with NPH.
Quantification of these factors may identify those that could predict outcomes following vetriculoperitoneal shunting.
Presented by Adam P. Klausner, MD, et al., at the Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) - May 17 - 22, 2008. Orange County Convention Center - Orlando, Florida, USA.
