Diabetes UK Careline Scotland Launched
This is to meet the growing need for information as ever increasing numbers of people are diagnosed with diabetes in Scotland.
The new service has been developed to ensure a service that is more responsive to the needs of people living with diabetes in Scotland.
Calls from Scotland answered in Scotland
Using the same telephone number as Diabetes UK Careline - 0845 120 2960 - calls originating in Scotland will be answered by qualified counsellors based in Diabetes UK Scotland's Glasgow office.
Careline Scotland is staffed by fully qualified counsellors who have a high level of diabetes knowledge and have access to comprehensive and up-to-date information. The telephone counsellors are also supported by Diabetes UK's expert science information and care teams.

Careline Scotland's local rate, 0845 telephone number - 0845 120 2960 - is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and has a recorded out-of-hours service. The counsellors respond to email and postal enquiries too. Interpretation services are also on hand to respond to callers by covering 150 different languages.
Answering a strong need
"Research conducted by Diabetes UK Scotland has shown that there is a strong need for more information on all aspects of diabetes, available on an on-going basis, and for far better access to emotional support," said Careline Counsellor, Morag Ramsay.
"Through Careline Scotland we aim to provide information and emotional support to help people living with diabetes, their families and carers learn more about the condition and how to manage it."
