HRSA Patient Safety Initiative Receives ASHP's Pledge Of Support
ASHP was host to a multidisciplinary conference that outlined the progress of the Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative, a patient safety initiative launched by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
During the conference, HRSA officials explained the agency's plans to gather best practices from exemplary practice sites, create action plans for achieving the goals, and develop multidisciplinary training programs. The initiative aims to expand patient access to clinical pharmacy services and improve patient safety and health outcomes in hospitals and clinics for HRSA-funded programs, which include 340B and safety net hospitals.
ASHP is a strong supporter of the initiative and is providing HRSA with a variety of resources, including therapeutic position statements, practice guidelines, and other best practices resources developed through the Society's consensus building process. The Society will also provide HRSA access to AHFS drug information resources, and ongoing input in the agency's work on the quality issues surrounding the provision of pharmacy services and therapeutic management of patients.
