National Children's Cancer Charity Rises Over 1million Pounds, UK
In 2007 the charity, which remains an all volunteer organisation, has raised over £70,000 in voluntary donations from the public.
The children's charity offers kids with cancer deserved breaks away form long term hospital stays and unpleasant treatment.
Established in 1986, the organisation has now broken the £1million barrier with a staggering £1,001,048 in total funds raised over the 22 years.
Andy Betts, the charity's chairman, said: "This is fantastic news: not only can we celebrate so much being raised over the years, but most importantly we have supported over 2,000 children with cancer and their families over those years. What is remarkable is that most of this has been done through the work of volunteers up and down the country. The organisation does stop to celebrate, but there's much more needed to be done."
Deputy Chairman and cancer survivor, Russell Casey, added: "1 in 10 children are diagnosed with cancer every day. We need to ensure that every family that go through those hospital doors are aware of the positive childhood experiences their child can have. The services we offer increase self esteem, confidence and give them the ability to do more than they could have imagined whilst sitting in their hospital beds."
