RCGP Presents Devonshire Practice With A Quality Practice Award, UK
Dr Michael Hall, Fellow and Provost of the RCGP Tamar faculty will present the Caen Medical Centre in Braunton with a Quality Practice Award (QPA) for achieving high standards of patient care on 1 March 2006 at 2pm. Press and photographers are welcome to attend.
The practice is the fourth practice in Devonshire to receive the award, and the 148th to complete the QPA nationwide. There are 26 members of staff, including 7 partnered GPs, looking after 11,500 patients. Caen Medical Centre took four years to complete the QPA, and all the staff were involved in the project.
The Quality Practice Award (QPA) is a quality assurance process, undertaken by GP practices, which recognises a high standard of quality patient care delivered by every member of the practice team. Each practice is required to submit a portfolio of written evidence set against 16 sets of criteria including clinical care, health promotion, and continuity of care. The panel of four assessors then visits the practice to interview the staff and makes recommendations for continuing improvement.
Dr Hugh Bradford, GP at the practice, said: "We feel it is a great achievement to have been awarded the Quality Practice Award from the Royal College of General Practitioners. We are also extremely proud of the staff and those attached to the practice for their commitment and hard work in achieving this. Working towards the QPA has been an invaluable experience for the whole practice, personally and professionally."
