Dr Anger , et al., reported on the results of an analysis of male Medicare patients with urethral stricture disease that indicated underuse of the urethroplasty in favor of the less invasive, albeit less efficacious techniques.
Dr. Sirium from USC shared their findings following a retrospective review of 54 spinal cord injury patients at a minimum of 30 year follow up. In their cohort, despite new onset hydronephrosis in 9%, no patient developed renal insufficiency as determined by serum creatinine and glomerular filtration rate, suggesting that rigorous annual follow up of stable SCI patients may not be necessary over the very long term.
