World Congress To Host Supply Chain Management Leadership Summit - Fostering Industry Collaboration To Enable Change

World Congress, the leading producer of global healthcare conferences, announced today that it will host the 2nd Annual Leadership Summit on Healthcare Supply Chain Management, January 24-25 in Las Vegas. This Summit will convene industry leaders to present innovative solutions for the acceleration of financial returns, the containment of costs and control of waste, the implementation of integrated IT systems, the streamlining of supply chain management processes and the critical push towards stakeholder collaboration in the healthcare industry.

Featuring national supply chain management leader Broadlane as its presenting sponsor, the 2nd Annual Leadership Summit on Supply Chain Management has grown on the success of the first event. Managing the healthcare supply chain has become an increasingly complex process, as manufacturers and distributors work to ensure they are providing safe and effective goods while continuously focusing on minimizing costs. From the use of RFID technology and bar coding, to the implementation of quality assurance and process reengineering programs, controlling waste and driving down costs in the 21st century healthcare supply chain requires both collaboration and innovation among all industry stakeholders.

Key conference topics include:

-- The Enablement and Synchronization of Data Standards: How Standardization Will Cost and Improve Patient Safety
-- Implementing Unique Device Identification: The FDA Perspective
-- Fostering Collaboration in the Global Supply Chain: Creating Strategic Relationships with Industry Stakeholders
-- Managing Finances through the Clinical Supply Chain
-- Capital Management: The Elephant in the Room
-- Using Six Sigma to Reduce Supply Chain Costs and Improve Quality
-- Using Automation and Standardization to Streamline Operations.

This year's event also includes two new program features designed to truly facilitate the learning experience on-site and give attendees the necessary tools needed to implement change within their own organizations. Hosted by the RFID Journal, the pre-conference seminar on RFID's Role in Improving Hospital Operations will feature discussion on how hospitals and health care providers are using RFID and offer insights on how to move from on-off applications to an infrastructure approach to RFID.

The Healthcare Supply Chain Standards Coalition (HSCSC) has also come on board this year to present adoption processes for, and to discuss the challenges of, implementing unique identifiers and endorsing data synchronization in attendees' organizations. In the HSCSC Workshop, the Coalition's Educational Committee will explore:

-- How standard organizational identifiers can improve efficiencies and lower costs in the healthcare supply chain
-- The current level of usage of various organizational identifiers in the healthcare supply chain
-- Steps organizations can begin to take to enable the use of a standard organizational identifier
-- The anticipated costs and return on investment related to the adoption of a standard organizational identifier
